Stone Sculpture by Jack Haggerty
Jack Haggerty
I have lived in Boulder, Colorado for 45 years, working in plastic to manufacture prosthetic hands and feet. I always deeply appreciated the 3-demensional beauty and grace of the human form, but it took until I began to marvel at the beauty and grace of stone that my art emerged. I first picked up hammer and chisel in 2001 and launched a creative journey I had been searching for most of my life. I sculpt because through it I feel more in touch with the world. Sculpting is a very personal experience for me , and every sculpture I create harbors pieces of my inner life. My abstract , geometric and representational figures are the result of creatively playing with form and space, paying attention to connections and separations , and balance between the two. I hope that my work, which awakens my creativity , helps to awaken others" as well. Currently I have work prominently displayed in art galleries, have participated in a variety of shows, and have placed numerous pieces into private collections.
